NOTICE: As to repeal of this section as to boroughs by act 1947, July 10, P.L. 1621, see § 95 of said act.

As to repeal of this section as to townships of first class by act 1949, May 27, P.L. 1955, see § 64 of said act.

§ 53322. Present employes exempted

All appointments as fire apparatus operators of municipalities upon the effective date of this act shall continue to hold their positions and shall not be required to take any examination under the provisions of this act, except such as may be required for promotion: Provided, however, That this section shall not be construed to apply to persons employed temporarily in emergency cases.
